Fed S - Leica (from a 1d, 1940).

This camera was originally an S 1d between # c. 12xxxx and 15xxxx (1/1000th of a second, aluminium shutter box, hole in the pressure plate). So it was probably made in 1940.
It's the only converted S I have ever seen, but of course it's impossible to say when it was re engraved.
The chrome is beautiful, the letters a bit too large. You can compare with two other cameras on one of the pictures ( the # 219780 is a genuine 1936 Leica Couplex!).

When received, it was equipped with a strange 3,5 Tessar, mounted on a Fed rear part (old depth of field scale, so pre WW2) and a wedge on which the black part is screwed. Serial number 271317 for this Tessar, so it could be very old. No explanation about this lens which gives a strange and cyclopean look to this camera!
