Sputnik 2
1977-1977
There seem to have been various versions of the Sputnik 2, so it is possible that this designation was used when trying out a number of configurations. This particular one is obviously later than 1965, as it has LOMO on the front of the viewfinder hood. There appears to be very little different to the later version of the standard Sputnik. The shutter speeds are 1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125 and B. It has a self-timer and is synchronised for flash.
The main difference being the MC Triplet-23 f 1:4.5 75 mm lenses. The serial number on one of the lenses is 77000003 which suggests that it might have emerged as late as 1977.
Evidence suggests that this is indeed a fake, allbeit put together in a convincing way.
David Tomlinson.
